Fancy Friday Blog Hop - Think Pink

Welcome to the Fancy Friday Blog Hop!

Our theme this week is all about PINK...like this..which I love, love LOVE...so I wanted to do so something super fun!

I had done a bit of baking..and I typically share...so I thought it would be fun to go all out pink with some gift packaging...like this!

I love that Stampin' Up! has so many pink options...for ink, cardstock, DSP and embellishments!  I couldn't decide which one to use...so I chose not one, but two pinks!

My first pink pick was the bright, fun Melon Mambo...and I found this perfect, striped DSP  in the Pop of Pink Specialty DSP.  Yep...where else would I look...right?  Ha!  Then, I added a cardstock pinwheel and an embossed tag...and tied it all up with Thick Baker's Twine.

Next...I chose the soft, sweet Blushing Bride...one of my favorite pinks EVER!  I stayed with striped DSP...this time from the Subtles DSP Stack...and also added the same pinwheel, embossed tag and baker's twine here, too!

Both pink...but so different!

Curious about what's under all that pink wrapping?  It's banana bread...the Best Ever Banana Bread, that is!

I got this recipe years ago on a crafter's blog...and unfortunately it appears that it was so long ago that I don't remember who it was.  Aack!  Regardless...I've made dozens of loaves of bread...large and small...and countless muffins using the same recipe, too.  It just wouldn't be right if I didn't share it here, too!

Best Ever Banana Bread
1/2 cup butter, room temperature
1 cup sugar
2 eggs
1-1/2 cups unbleached flour
1 teaspoon baking soda
1 teaspoon salt
1 cup very ripe bananas, mashed
1/2 cup sour cream
1 teaspoon vanilla
1/2 cup walnuts or pecans, chopped

Preheat oven to 350 degrees.  Butter loaf pan; set aside.
Cream butter and sugar until light and fluffy.  Add eggs, and beat to incorporate.  Whisk together (or sift) flour, baking soda and salt.  Add to butter mixture, stirring just until combined.  Add bananas, sour cream and vanilla; mix to combine.  Stir in nuts and pour into prepared pan.
Bake for about 1 hour and 10 minutes.  Cool in pan 10 minutes; turn onto rack for cooling.

This recipe makes three small loaves...which I bake for about 40-45 minutes, and it makes about14 muffins, which I bake for about 20 minutes, or so.

For this project I used small loaves...because they're easy to wrap...and super fun to share!

Thank you so much for joining us on Fancy Friday!  And now...I'm sure you'll want to hop over to see my awesome friend Cindy's Fancy project.  It's sure to be amazing!

  1. Could you tell me how you made your pinwheels? I'd like to make one for a boy's baby shower.

    1. Hi Gloria! The pinwheels are super easy. There are lots of instructions online...and here's the one I used: http://www.puresweetjoy.com/diy-paper-pinwheel-cupcake-toppers-tutorial/ I used a 3" x 3" square, and I attached them to the sticker stick with Tear & Tape. It didn't matter to me if they spun or not. Also, I use the 1/16" hole punch for the outer holes, and the 1/8" handheld punch for the middle one. I hope this helps you! Post your cupcake pinwheels...I'd LOVE to see them!
