Stampin' Up! Artisan Designn Team Blog Hop - Shine On and Sunburst

Welcome to the Stampin' Up! Artisan Design Team Blog Hop...I'm so happy you're here!
One product focus this month is the Shine On Specialty Designer Series Paper...and as I've said...many times...Shine On is my favorite DSP ever!  I love that it's filled with kraft and color...and kraft and silver.  I love the designs...and I love that it's so thick...and perfect for not only cards, but for boxes and other projects, too!  I have to admit that I ordered this paper more than once...or perhaps more than twice.  I love it so much that I can't bear to part with even the tiniest little scrap to the trash...so I have quite the scrap pile.
Another product focus is the AMAZING Sunburst Thinlits Die.  I was seriously stumped as to what to do with this die this time.  I've seen some amazing cards and other projects using it...but I wanted to do something totally different.
So...for this project...I had two goals in mind... to use some of my precious Shine On paper scraps AND to do something different with the Sunburst Thinlits Die...and here's what I came up with...

This home decor piece was a bit time consuming...but SUPER easy!  I started with an 8 x 8 piece of Corrugated Paper as the base and marked it into even quarters.  I trimmed my scraps into varied lengths widths and simply started applying them to the base...one quarter at a time...and trimming as necessary.

To create the flower petals, I used the Sunburst Thinlints Die to cut four "sunbursts" in Watermelon Wonder Cardstock.  Then, I cut each sunburst again...in varied sizes...using the Circles Collection Framelits Dies.  I then simply stacked the sunburst circles and used a Bone Folder to curl everything up to form the flower.  To create the leaves I cut one sunburst in Cucumber Crush Cardstock and cut apart several pieces to use as leaves...which I attached to the flower using Stampin' Dimensionals.  Finally, I used Mini Glue Dots to create the flower's center with Bermuda Bay Sequins.  Again...a bit time consuming, but so easy.  And...a bonus...I met my goals for this project.    I used some of my precious Shine On scraps...and did something a bit different with the Sunburst Framelits Die.

Oh...and because I might want to give this as a gift...I put together a matching card!

If you're hopping from the beginning you've just come from the incredibly talented Steffi Helmschrott...and next up is the wonderful Susan Wong!

  5. Ok, I have NOT been a fan of the Sunburst Die......that is until now. I love your flower. So the question is; do I buy it now and pray it doesn't retire or not? (I am a SU demo too) I wish I would have seen your flower earlier. Your projects are amazing.

  6. Wow, Sue! Not one, but two fabulous projects! I love your framed art and how you've layered it over the corrugated card stock. And I love how you've layered your ribbons on the card. Beautifully done!

  9. I don't usually do 3-D projects but I will be trying this one. I just love the colors and the pattern. It's a perfect gift, and you made a card to go with it. I love it all. Congratulations for using your scraps and for making your goals. Thank you so much for sharing.
