#TGIFC124 - Sketch Challenge

Good morning...and happy Friday!  I'm back...with something lovely for this week's TGIF Challenge!

http://tgifchallenges.blogspot.com/

 It's #TGIFC124..and it's a sketch challenge!

Click the image above to go to the TGIF Challenges blog for all the details.  You'll be able to see what the TGIF designers have shared to inspire you...and you'll be able to see what other challengers have created, too!  But first...here's my #TGIFC124 project!

First...let's talk about this sketch.  It's so amazing...for so many reasons!  I love that the main panel is wide open for possibilities.  For me...I chose to create this fun "scene"...with no sentiment...so I can use it as a thank you card...or Halloween card...or a missing you, friend card.  Then...I love the way the sketch allowed me to sneak in a tiny bit more of the Berry Burst that I used for the pumpkin's vine.  It just ties it all together so nicely.  And finally...I was able to use the Oh My Stars Textured Impressions Embossing Folder on the panel's black background and still stay true to the sketch.

And then...for fun...I created this matching pillow box...which has nothing to do with the sketch or the challenge...but just because I loved the pumpkins and cat together.  Ha!

How will YOU be inspired by this week's sketch challenge?  You'll find the link to add your own project at the #TGIFC124 Challenge page HERE.  I can't wait to see what you create!

Have an amazing day!

Introducing...Take Three

The essential part of creativity is not being afraid to fail. - Edwin H. Land

I've been in a bit of a slump...mojo's been hiding on me...and I haven't been able to get much done, creatively speaking.  It that time of the year for me.  The holiday trinkets that I so love have been packed up and put away...and it's January in northern Illinois.  All best described in one word...gray.  Ugh.

And there's the new...and amazing...2017 Occasions Catalog.  So much goodness that it's almost too much...for this girl's brain, anyway.  It happens with each new catalog release...so much excitement...and then, overload.  What to use?  Can I do it well?  Can I compare?  Will I fail?

I you know me you know I'm a family therapist...in training anyway.  Trained to ask questions that focus on solutions.  What would it look like if I knew what to use?  What does doing well look like?  How would I knew if I was successful?

And it came to me...my own solution.  Pick three new products that I love...use them in a way that moves me creatively...and don't be afraid of the result.  Take three...and let go of the fear!  So here it is...my Take Three.

My take three products weren't totally random.  I wanted to use a paper, an embellishment and dies...so I chose Cupcakes & Carousels DSP Stack, Lace Doilies and Window Box Thinlits Dies.

I focused on colors that are not really my jam...Bermuda Bay and Peekaboo Peach.  But I kind of like it!

Was my Take Three solution successful?   I think so!

As always...

Love, Hugs and Good Fortune...#TGIF36

It's been way too long since I've been able to play along over at TGIF Challenges...and I thought it was time to fix that!  So...#TGIF36...a color challenge...inspired this...

gold and silver fortune "cookies"!  I've wanted to make actual homemade fortune cookies...and dip the ends in candy coating and then in sprinkles...and I just haven't gotten around to it.  In this version, there's no candy coating...but the sequins are my sprinkles.  Oh...and I couldn't make just two...

but kind of a double batch...and they're all ready for sweet Valentine fortunes!  Seriously...these little cuties will be lovely for Valentine's Day...or the paper and embellishments can be changed out for any occasion!

Check out the challenge details here:

and join the fun!
