Our theme for this month is "Perfect Packaging". Yes, please! Packaging is one of my favorites...and this was the perfect opportunity to get a head start on one of my favorite packaging projects of the year...Mother's Day.
Each year we celebrate this special day with one family...either my Mom and my siblings...or my husband's Mom and his siblings...and either way I like to do something a bit special for all the moms there. Last year was my homemade vanilla...and this year I'm going with a gardening gift.
I knew I wanted to use the Gift Box Punch Board...and I wanted something that was not the typical box...but something a bit different. Hmmm...and then... I found just what I wanted with this awesome tutorial by Barbara Meyer! So...I grabbed my Punch Board and got to work...
and this is what I came up with.
These open boxes...with tons of layers...and color...and spring details...are perfect for the gardening Moms in our family!
And...a bit about the details. I've used the INCREDIBLE Cherry On Top Cotton Paper Assortment to create these gorgeous, colorful butterflies. This paper is light and airy...and perfect, I think, for detailed die cuts...like butterflies! Die cutting is super easy, too...and two to four layers can be cut with one pass through the Big Shot.
I've also embossed the Circle of Spring Stamp Set wreath image on Kraft Cardstock as a landing for the butterflies...and I've used the Bitty Futterfly Punch and cards from the Memories in the Making and This is the Life Project Life Card Collections to create the coordinated tiny butterflies at the bottom of each wreath. I love tiny details like that!
If you're hopping from the beginning you've just come from the talented Steffi...and I know you'll want to hop over to see what the amazing Susan has for you!
As always...
I love how you've altered these boxes, and the butterflies and embossed wreaths are terrific details!

ReplyDeleteWhat a great idea Sue, love it ! X
ReplyDeleteLove your boxes! How do you translate the instructions from your linked site for the box instructions?
ReplyDeleteHi, Karen! Honestly, I had to play around with it for a bit. For these boxes I started with an 8x8 piece of cardstock and began at the Large start line. There is no diagonal scoring, and on the last pass around do not make the horizontal score, as marked with the dotted line on Barbara's instructions. Also, remove the flap and the top marked with the diagonal lines...and to create the box bottom you will cut the scored lines just to the left and right of Barbara's Artisan watermark. I hope that makes sense! I'm not near my studio right now, but I should have some time this weekend to edit my post with a diagram. Hugs!
